Six prehistoric hilltop enclosures or "hillforts" dominate the Cheshire Sandstone Ridge.
Woodhouse Hill, a late bronze age hilltop enclosure, is one of these. All six of the sites on which they are located have long and complex histories that began in the Neolithic or early Bronze Age with the ritual burial of the dead, perhaps associated with seasonal festivals, fires and feasts.
Woodhouse Hill is in the ownership of the Woodland Trust and the Hillfort is listed as a Scheduled Monument
